Dr Melissa Risely

Melissa has been an associate with GTP for over 12 years and is a skilled engagement specialist. Her experience with GTP includes practical development and implementation of community engagement plans, social impact assessment, policy analysis, and report writing. Clients have included government agencies such as Innovation and Skills, SA Health, SA Water, and the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure. 

Melissa’s strengths lie in her strategic approach to solving problems, her ability to form strong trusting relationships, and her curious nature. Melissa is also the founder of Thinkreate., a freelance business writing and creative strategy consultancy. 

A life-long learner, Melissa holds a PhD from the University of Adelaide, master’s degree in environmental studies, Bachelor of Science degree, postgraduate certificate in Education, Certificate IV in Art and Design, as well as an IAP2 Certificate in Engagement.

Melissa is passionate about equity in community engagement, policymaking, and education and is an advocate for the transformation of education through a greater focus on 21st century skills.

Outside of GTP, Melissa loves music, reading and the arts, spending time with family, hiking in the beautiful South Australian landscape, and finding new things to learn.
